Pasta with Marinara Sauce

Ingredients
Store brought uncooked pasta
1 cup diced onion
1 tablespoon dried basil leaves
2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes or paprika powder
1 tablespoon garlic powder or 2 cloves fresh garlic – minced
Olive oil
Salt to taste
Method:
To cook pasta.
Boil water in a sauce pan. Add pasta. Add ½ tsp olive oil and salt. Cook the pasta until it is done and soft. Drain the water. To stops pasta from cooking and becoming all mushy, Run cold water and drain again and keep aside.
Marinara sauce
2. Add Garlic powder
3. To the saucepan, add the tomatoes. Add the basil, Italian seasonings, sugar and crushed red peppers and salt. Simmer liquid and spices for about 30 minutes or until liquid is reduced by half.
*Optional: If you like vegetables in your pasta sauce. In a pan take 2 tbsp olive oil. If you like garlic taste add some garlic powder and Italian seasoning. Add cut mushrooms, olives and Zucchini. Sauté for a minute. I like to cook my vegetables with red wine. Add ¼ cup red wine, Balsamic vinegar, paprika powder and salt. Let it cook on medium heat for a 5 minute. Stir in Marinara sauce and let it cook for few minutes.
To Serve
On a warm plate, put some cooked pasta. Top it with Marinara sauce. Garnish it with grated parmesan cheese or Mozzarella cheese. Serve hot with Red wine on the side
